New Delhi : The Modi government at the Center has prepared several schemes to promote fisheries. In this series, Union Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairy Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh on Monday inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of the main projects with total cost of Rs 255.30 crore for 7 Coastal State and Union Territories under the Pradhan Mantri Fisheries Sampada Yojana i.e. PMMSY.
Union Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairy Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh can launch major schemes with the aim of strengthening marine fisheries and promoting eco -friendly process at the Coastal State Summit to be held on April 29 in Mumbai. These include maritime fisheries census campaign, projecting tools to separate turtles during fishing and issuing the standard operating process ie SOP for the ship communication and support system.
Minister of State for Fisheries and Animal Husbandry, SP Singh Baghel and George Kurien will also be included in this program. According to the official statement, certificates will also be distributed to excellent cooperative societies, fisheries farmer growing organizations, fisheries startups and climate friendly villages.
Under the Prime Minister Fisheries Kisan Samriddhi cum Yojana i.e. PMMKSSY, Aqua Insurance Certificate and Kisan Credit Card will also be given to those availing these schemes. The government has introduced Aqua Insurance for the first time, which provides financial security to fisheries farmers. This historical initiative ensures targeted insurance coverage, digital access and concentrated support for communities on margin in the fisheries sector. Fisheries of Maharashtra, Gujarat, Goa, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Puducherry will be present in the program.
