The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) 2.0 has undergone a significant modification, requiring solely online applications to be eligible for rewards. The previous option to apply both offline and online has been eliminated entirely. Families in urban poverty who want to apply for the housing program must now do so only online.
One of the main changes to the program, according to District Urban Development Agency (DUDA) officials, is an incentive of Rs 10,000 for recipients who finish building their homes within a year. The programme would also provide an additional Rs 30,000 in special assistance to widows, elderly people, and women who have been abandoned.
Urban beneficiaries must make sure that, while completing the online application procedure, they submit correct information, such as their address and cellphone number. Since there is no way to resubmit in offline mode, any mistake might lead to disqualification.
As of right now, over 42,000 applications have been made for the program in metropolitan areas, and surveys have confirmed over 10,000 of those applications. In the current fiscal year, the program is expected to help close to 20,000 urban poor households. Only households earning up to Rs 3 lakh annually are eligible for the initiative.
Eligible participants would get Rs 2.5 lakh in financial aid over the course of three payments under the initiative.
This time, PM Awas Yojana offline applications are no longer available. Submissions will only be accepted online. “Recipients who finish construction within a year will receive Rs 10,000,” said Pratibha Shrivastava, DUDA’s project officer.
