Major action in verification of tenants, 50 landlords were fined 5 lakh

In order to tighten crime and ensure security in Selakui region of Dehradun, the police launched a comprehensive verification campaign. The campaign was started on 11 May 2025 under the leadership of Police Station Selakui under the instructions of Senior Superintendent of Police Dehradun.

Its main objective was to identify and verify the outer persons and tenants living in the area, so that anti -social elements could be monitored. This campaign not only strengthened the spirit of security among the local people, but also took strict action against those who broke the rules.

Police verified more than 150 outsiders and tenants living in Jamanpur area. During this time it was found that many landlords had not verified their tenants, which is a violation of security rules. As a result, 50 landlords were challaned under the Police Act and they were fined a total of Rs 5 lakh. This action is a strict message for the landlords that it is their responsibility to follow the rules.

During the campaign, the police detained 10 suspects and brought them to the police station and questioned them. After intensive investigation, these persons were found to be correct and released. In addition, 10 other persons were challaned under the 81 Police Act for violation of rules and a fine of Rs 2500 was charged from them. This campaign not only proved to be helpful in prevention of crime, but also increased confidence in the police in the local community.

This step of Selakui Police is an important initiative towards maintaining law and order in the area. Local residents appreciated the campaign and described it as an essential step for safety. The police clarified that such campaigns would be run regularly in future as well, so that there is no suspicious activity in the area. This initiative is not only effective in preventing crime, but is also playing an important role in making landlords and tenants aware of rules.
