Synopsis

Mouni Roy faced online criticism regarding her physical appearance, leading to speculation about cosmetic procedures. She responded by criticizing the negativity and highlighting the hard work actors invest in their careers.

'The Bhootnii' actors Palak Tiwari and Mouni Roy recently opened up on getting trolled and bodyshamed.
In the ever-scrutinized world of entertainment, Mouni Roy recently found herself at the center of online backlash and unkind speculation regarding her physical transformation. Whispers and harsh assumptions about alleged cosmetic procedures began circulating, triggering a wave of criticism. Rather than remaining silent, Mouni addressed the negativity with poise, labeling the critics as "unaccomplished" individuals who fail to recognize the dedication, sacrifice, and relentless effort actors pour into their craft. She emphasized how people are quick to comment but blind to the grueling journey that artists endure to carve a niche in the competitive industry.

Standing firmly by her side, Palak Tiwari—Roy’s co-star in the supernatural drama The Bhootnii—voiced her concerns over the increasing trend of celebrity trolling and the unrealistic standards of beauty imposed especially on women in showbiz. In a heartfelt conversation with journalist Nayandeep Rakshit, Palak reflected on the disturbing rise in hate towards public figures. “There’s one thing that gets more attention than celebrities—it’s dragging them down,” she explained. “The hatred is unfiltered and constant. It has never been this extreme. There’s this belief that anyone can be an actor, and while I respect that mindset and aspire to earn their admiration, I think there should be a sense of fairness.”

Tiwari also called out the double standards female celebrities are subjected to when it comes to appearance. Society, she said, fixates on how women look—only to turn on them when they try to change it. “The public obsesses over our looks, but when someone chooses to enhance or alter their features due to the pressure, they’re slammed for it. First, people shame you for not fitting in. Then, if you do something about it to quiet the insecurities their hate created, they shame you again. It’s a lose-lose situation,” Palak said. “They find faults in everything—whether it’s your nose, your hair, or your body shape.”

During the same conversation, Mouni opened up about the emotional toll of such relentless criticism. She stated, “What’s sad is that many of the people who troll us have done nothing meaningful themselves. They hate from a distance but refuse to acknowledge the sleepless nights, the endless auditions, and the uphill climb that comes with not having any industry connections. We’ve all sacrificed a lot, spent countless hours perfecting our skills, just to earn our place.”

Fueling the gossip further were claims that Mouni had recently opted for bangs to conceal a botched forehead reduction surgery—an unverified rumor that only added fuel to the already blazing fire of public judgment.

Tiwari was recently seen in the supernatural drama ‘The Bhootnii’, which also featured Roy and Sanjay Dutt in pivotal roles.
