Since the State government has already bought 50 lakh metric tons of grains from farmers out of the 70 lakh tons that are targeted to date, paddy procurement has been moving quickly. In two weeks, an additional 20 lakh tons of paddy would be purchased, according to Civil Supplies Minister Uttam, who urged the district collectors to finish the work ahead of schedule.

In a video conference with collectors, the Minister and Chief Secretary K Ramarksihan Rao discussed the state of paddy procurement in each district. According to him, 129.35 lakh metric tons of paddy were produced during the Rabi season, according to official estimates.

The government purchased 25 lakh metric tons of paddy before May 15 of the previous Rabi season, and this amount has increased in the current agricultural season. According to the Minister, 8,348 procurement centers were established because of this year’s higher harvest.

Uttam said that the Civil Supplies wing was keeping a careful eye on the procurement of paddy and that, since the government is dedicated to the welfare of the agricultural community, paddy with a higher moisture content will also be bought from the farmers.

He gave the Collectors instructions to visit the fields and keep an eye on the procurement procedure to make sure no farmer had difficulties. For the next ten to twelve days, all district officials have been advised to exercise caution throughout the procurement process and to quickly address any issues that may have occurred at the field level. During the procurement process, the Collectors have to take the initiative to inform the public of the facts and reassure farmers.
