Hira Batool, a journalist from Pakistan, has voiced her concerns regarding the arrest of her 'sister' Jyoti Malhotra, criticizing the Indian government's actions. In a recent Instagram post, Hira expressed her solidarity with Jyoti, who is a YouTuber from Haryana, without directly mentioning her name. Jyoti was apprehended on Sunday for allegedly sharing sensitive information and maintaining contact with a Pakistani national. Superintendent of Police (SP) Hisar, Shashank Kumar Sawan, revealed that she was being groomed as an asset and had connections with other YouTube influencers and individuals from Pakistan. Following her arrest on espionage allegations, reactions have emerged from across the border.
Hira Batool, a social media influencer and journalist, met Jyoti during her visit to Pakistan. Jyoti had previously shared a photo with Hira, referring to her as 'Behan,' which means sister. In her post, Hira criticized the Indian government for targeting its own YouTubers and vloggers, labeling the actions as 'useless' and urging the government to cease such measures. Her Instagram message stated: 'India has now started targeting its own YouTubers and vloggers. India, stop useless actions.' Although she did not explicitly name Jyoti, her message is widely interpreted as a supportive gesture.
Jyoti and Hira's meeting a few months ago was seen as a symbol of friendship between the two nations, especially as they referred to each other as sisters in a widely circulated video.
Currently, Jyoti is in police custody as investigations continue. It has been revealed that she was in Pakistan prior to the Pahalgam attack. SP Hisar mentioned that the inquiry is ongoing to determine any potential connections between her visit and the terrorist incident.
