Known as Baby AB due to his resemblance to AB de Villiers' batting style, Dewald Brevis made headlines by etching his name in the record books during his performance for Chennai Super Kings (CSK). In a thrilling match against the Gujarat Titans, Brevis became the ninth player in IPL history and the second in CSK's records to achieve remarkable feats, showcasing his fearless approach against the league leaders.
In a match held at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Brevis scored a stunning fifty in just 19 balls, setting a new record for CSK. This achievement places him alongside Moeen Ali and Ajinkya Rahane, who also reached fifty in the same number of balls in previous seasons. Prior to this, only Suresh Raina had a faster fifty for CSK back in 2014.
Brevis' explosive performance further solidified his reputation as a rising star. Throughout IPL 2025, he hit 17 sixes, averaging one every 7.3 balls, which is the highest strike rate for CSK this season. His six-hitting prowess outshined many notable players, including Shivam Dube, MS Dhoni, Ayush Mhatre, and Ravindra Jadeja.
