Suspense crime, Digital Desk : Indian Game streaming giant Rooter declared a staggering 120% increase in revenue as the platform reached ₹82 crore ($10 million) for the financial year ending 2025, owing tentatively to its expansion into gaming commerce verticals.
Rooter was previously reported to be earning ₹38 crore ($4.5 million). Rooter has also claimed a 63% reduction on losses over the past 12 months though exact figures remain undisclosed. Having previously reported a ₹65 crore loss for FY24, Rooter aims to secure profitability within FY25.

Founded in 2016, Rooter started operating in the social networking domain, Initially taking off as a sports social network. It shifted to game streaming offering live streams, short form videos, and on demand content in over 10 Indian languages during the pandemic in 2020.

Rooter Shop: Catalyzing Revenue From Customers

As of now, 70% of Rooter’s revenue comes from consumers, primarily from this segment of gaming commerce, stated CEO Piyush Kumar. While subscriptions and virtual gifting do add to revenue, they are a relatively smaller portion of consumer revenue.
Momentum For PC Gaming and The Marketplace
PC gaming is turning out to be a very important segment for Rooter as it accounts for 30% of the company’s gross merchandise value (GMV). This phenomenon is driven by stronger average order value and greater spend engagement from PC gamers.
Kumar highlighted the role that marketplaces play in assisting game developers monetize via in-app purchases, which is also the case for Codashop and Unipin.
Advertising and Brand Monetization
Rooter began it’s monetization rein in 2022 through advertisement branding, to date:

Has over 100 brands under partnership with a 10% quarter-on-quarter growth in brand revenue.
