Exciting news is in store for fans of Line of Duty, as ITV has announced the return of Trigger Point, a similar series created by the same producer.
The original BBC police drama, starring Martin Compston, Vicky McClure and Adrian Dunbar, ran for six seasons, ending in 2021, though a rumoured seventh installment is in the works.
Vicky then moved on to Trigger Point, which has so far aired two seasons and was created by Line of Duty producer Jed Mercurio.
The thriller sees Vicky star as ex-military bomb disposal operative Lana Washington, who heads a Met Police bomb squad, using her skills as she's tasked with dealing with terrorist threats and explosives.
Starring Mark Stanley, Adrian Lester, Nabil Elouahabi, and Kris Hitchen, Trigger Point proved to be a huge hit, scoring an impressive 82% on Rotten Tomatoes.
And before the third season has even hit screens, ITV has also confirmed a fourth will be on its way.
"Trigger Point is one of ITV's most-watched dramas of last year after Mr Bates vs The Post Office, so I'm delighted that this thrilling series is returning for a fourth series," said ITV's Director of Drama Polly Hill.
"I know audiences will be once again on the edge of their seat as Lana and the team take us on another thrilling ride to keep the capital safe."
Vicky added: "We're all buzzing ITV have such faith in this series to commission a fourth before the third has even aired. I love working with the team, we have a great time making the show and I cannot wait to continue Lana's journey on Trigger Point."
Vicky also shared the news in an Instagram video, having just wrapped filming and still in costume.
She said: "I am on the set of Trigger Point 3, we're having a brilliant time, we're nearly wrapped.
"It's very explosive in there but I can't show you. But what I can tell you is I've got a little secret.
"This is not the end. We are about to bounce straight into series four, it is coming to you.
"I can't wait to continue the story of Lana Washington and her colleagues and the brilliant people that make this show. So here we go! Series three and four!"
The cast recently wrapped filming for the third season in London, with the episodes due to air this autumn.
Season two of Trigger Point averaged 8.1million viewers per episode, and was streamed 30million times on ITVX after it landed in early 2024.
Vicky has previously addressed comparisons between the two police crime dramas.
She told The Scotsman: "I'm not [concerned about them]. This is what actors do. I've sort of fallen into this genre in Line of Duty, which I never expected to do what it's done, and I can't be worried about taking roles that might feel in a similar world or in a similar vein because of that.
"I look at Lana and Kate (DI Fleming), and I don't see them as the same people at all. Not only with the way Lana looks, but her personality is very different and she's an expo, which is very different to a police officer. They're both very strong women for sure, very brave and committed. But that's the kind of roles I love."
She added: "And you know, people love Line of Duty, so if there are any comparisons it might not be a bad thing."
Line of Duty is available to watch on BBC iPlayer while Trigger Point is available on ITVX.
