TIMESINDONESIA, JAKARTA – PT Solder Tin Andalan Indonesia (STANIA), a subsidiary of Arsari Tambang, today inaugurated its first soldering factory located in Tunas Prima Industrial Estate, Batam. This factory is an important milestone in supporting the national mineral downstream agenda launched by President Prabowo, as well as marking Arsari Tambang's commitment to become a pioneer in environmentally friendly tin production in Southeast Asia.
The factory, which is built on an area of 6,500 m², began the groundbreaking stage on May 10, 2024 and is now ready to produce up to 2,000 tons of solder bars per year. In the long term, production capacity will be expanded to include solder wire, powder and paste, with a total volume of up to 16,000 tons per year. With a revenue target of Rp1 trillion, the plant is expected to drive the growth of the domestic mineral-based manufacturing industry.
"The inauguration of this solder factory is a tangible manifestation of our commitment in supporting national downstreaming and answering global challenges for energy transition and sustainability. This is the beginning of Arsari Tambang's long journey towards an environmentally and socially responsible mining industry," said Hashim S. Djojohadikusumo, President Commissioner of Arsari Tambang.
As a solder manufacturer in Indonesia that is entirely based on mineral downstreaming, PT STANIA is taking concrete steps towards sustainability. All factory operations utilize electricity from PLN's Renewable Energy sources that have been certified with a Renewable Energy Certificate (REC), making it an emission-free production facility. The building design also considers energy efficiency, with many transparent roofs that maximize natural lighting and minimize the use of electric lights.
"PT Solder Tin Andalan Indonesia is part of our big vision to build the tin industry ecosystem and make Indonesia a major player in the global supply chain of tin-based products. Through the utilization of environmentally friendly technology and strategic cooperation, we want to show that the mining industry can also be a pioneer of sustainability," said Aryo P. S. Djojohadikusumo, President Director of Arsari Tambang.
PT Solder Tin Andalan Indonesia also emphasized its commitment to only use raw materials that comply with sustainability principles. The company has signed a Head of Agreement (HoA) with PT Freeport Indonesia for the procurement of lead and silver, two strategic minerals essential for the production of high-quality solder used in various global electronic products.
Furthermore, STANIA also signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Volex, a global provider of electrical and electronic connectivity solutions, for solder supply chain cooperation for export products. This collaboration strengthens Indonesia's position in the global supply chain while opening up opportunities for international market penetration for domestic tin-based downstream products.
"We appreciate the strategic steps taken by PT STANIA and Arsari Tambang. Downstreaming is a government priority in creating added value, creating jobs, and strengthening the competitiveness of the national industry. This factory is concrete evidence of private sector collaboration with the government's big vision," said Todotua Pasaribu, Deputy Minister of Investment and Downstream RI who was also present at the inauguration.
The domestic B2B cooperation between PT Solder Tin Andalan Indonesia and PT Freeport Indonesia is also a foundation to strengthen Indonesia's position in the export market, by encouraging added value from domestic mineral resources and reducing dependence on imported products.
"We welcome the presence of PT STANIA in Batam as part of the industrial transformation in the Riau Islands. This investment not only brings technology and innovation, but also creates jobs and significantly increases the region's economic contribution," said Ansar Ahmad, Governor of Riau Islands.
With the inauguration of this factory, PT Solder Tin Andalan Indonesia affirms its role in the national strategic agenda for mineral downstreaming, strengthens industrial independence, and proves that industrial growth and sustainability can go hand in hand. (*)
