The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made it clear that if the annual general meeting of the upcoming Asian Cricket Council (ACC) is held in Dhaka on July 24, India will not support any proposal passed in it. A senior BCCI official said that the board had officially demanded ACC to change the place of meeting, but so far no response has been received from the ACC chairman.

This development has also raised questions on the possibilities of the proposed Asia Cup in September this year. Despite the tournament window being fixed, neither an official program has been released so far nor the confirmation of the host, due to which the doubt is getting deeper.

No proposal is valid in Dhaka: BCCI

BCCI sources have clearly stated that if AC Chairman Mohsin Naqvi insisted on holding a meeting in Dhaka, then India will not only boycott the meeting, but will not recognize any proposal. The source said that the Asia Cup is possible only when the place of the meeting is replaced by Dhaka. ACC Chairman Mohsin Naqvi is trying to put unnecessary pressure on India. We requested them to change the venue, but no response came. If the meeting is held in Dhaka, the BCCI will not support any proposal. “

Accused of pressurizing India

According to sources, Mohsin Naqvi, who is also the Home Minister of Pakistan, is adamant on holding a meeting in Dhaka to deliberately pressurize India. This can also affect India’s participation and future cricket diplomacy.

BCCI has been strict about Pakistan

This is not the first time India’s participation in the ACC event has become a cause of controversy. In 2023, India refused to play the Asia Cup in Pakistan, due to which Sri Lanka was made a neutral venue. Similarly, in the 2025 Champions Trophy, India also played their matches in Dubai.

Questions on Asia Cup too

Doubt has also been raised in many reports about participation in India’s 2025 Men Asia Cup and Women’s Emerging Team Asia Cup. However, BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia made these speculation "Fictional and baseless" Had dismissed while stating.

The future of Asia Cup in the balance

Due to the increasing tension within ACC and no concrete decision, a big question has arisen on the Asia Cup 2025 event. If the location of the meeting is not changed, then India’s absence can completely collapse the tournament plan.
