Samosa and Jalebi investigation surrounds: Government pointed to health hazards in popular snacks

Favorite cuisine and Jalebi – are facing increasing criticism on their impact on public health in India. In view of the increasing worrying growth in lifestyle diseases, the Government of India has launched a leading campaign in Nagpur to raise awareness about the dangers of these dear but unhealthy snacks.

Like cigarette warning labels, authorities are now putting major health warnings on high fat and high sugar foods such as samosas, jalebi, pakoras, vada pavs and even tea biscuits. The initiative, launched at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Nagpur, aims to motivate citizens to have conscious food by highlighting excessive oil, sugar and trans fats present in these snacks.

Why should you think twice before eating samosas or jalebi

These popular dishes may be delicious, but experts warns that they charge a heavy price for your health:

Calorie bombs: These dishes fried and immersed in sugar syrup have more calories than your estimates. Regular intake can increase unwanted weight.

Increases bad cholesterol: Trans fat used in frying can increase LDL (bad cholesterol) and reduce HDL (good cholesterol), which increases the risk of cardiovascular problems.

Creates of obesity: Continuous intake of calorie -rich foods directly promotes obesity – which is the root cause of many chronic diseases.

Increase in blood sugar: Jalebi is high in sugar, while maida is often used in samosas – both of these can increase blood sugar levels and insulin resistance over time.
