Asia Cup 2025: In September 2025, the proposed Asia Cup has been threatened. Three major countries like India, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan have decided to boycott the meeting to be held in Dhaka, expressing disagreement over the place of event. If the situation does not change, then the tournament can also be canceled or postponed.
India has clearly stated that if the meeting associated with the Asia Cup (Asia Cup 2025) is held in Dhaka, then the BCCI will boycott it. The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) meeting is proposed in Dhaka on 24 July 2025, but the BCCI has made it clear that they will not attend the meeting and will not accept any decisions.
According to ANI journalist Vipul Kashyap, the BCCI has clearly conveyed the ACC and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) President Mohsin Naqvi that if the meeting is not changed, India will not become a part of the tournament. Political tension between India and Bangladesh is being described as the reason for this decision.
After India’s opposition, now Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Oman have also decided not to join it, opposing the meeting in Dhaka. All these countries had demanded ACC to change the place, but Mohsin Naqvi is still adamant and is not ready to change the venue.
According to the rules of the Asian Cricket Council, if a major team like India did not attend any meeting, there is no validity of the decisions taken in that meeting. In such a situation, the plan of the entire tournament has been in danger due to this dispute just 5 days before the meeting.
Now everyone’s eyes are on ACC and Mohsin Naqvi whether they decide to change the place to resolve this dispute or the luck of the Asia Cup 2025 remains hanging in the balance itself. If the situation does not change, the Asia Cup 2025 (Asia Cup 2025) will be postponed or canceled. India, which is the strongest and economically important member of ACC, if it is out of the tournament, it will be very difficult for the rest of the countries.
