MLA Anmol Gagan Mann: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Punjab MLA Anmol Gagan Mann has surprised everyone with her decision. She has not only resigned from the Legislative Assembly but has also announced her complete retirement from politics. This decision is considered big news for the party and Punjab politics. She was previously representing the Kharar Assembly constituency as an MLA.
Posting on social media, Anmol Gagan Mann said, “With a heavy heart, I have decided to leave politics. I have sent my resignation as MLA to the Speaker. I request him to accept it. My best wishes are with the party. I am confident that the Punjab government will fulfill the expectations of the people.”
Interestingly, four days ago, on July 15, he met AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal. He also posted about it on Instagram. He wrote, ‘Had an in-depth discussion with National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal on various key issues’.
The resignation of Anmol Gagan Mann is being seen as a major setback for the party, as he played a key role in Punjab. Mann is not only a popular leader but also has a special identity among the younger generation. It is a challenge for AAP in Punjab to create leaders in its team who can fill Mann’s place and maintain the party’s popularity. At the same time, the opposition parties have also seen this resignation as an uncertainty in party politics.
This resignation could add to the problems of the Aam Aadmi Party, especially in Punjab where the party is already facing discontent from many leaders. According to sources, the main reasons for this are internal affairs of the party and differences with the leadership. Notably, yesterday (Friday) Akali Dal leader Ranjit Gill from Kharar (Mohali) resigned from his party. Now there are reports that he may join the AAP in the coming days.
