Singer and music composer Amaal Mallik, who is currently a contestant on Bigg Boss 19, has made a deeply personal revelation about his health. The 35-year-old shared that he has been living with sleep apnea, a serious sleep disorder in which breathing repeatedly stops and starts during the night, preventing the body from getting enough oxygen.
Amaal explained that he relies on a CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) machine every night to ensure safe and uninterrupted sleep. Without it, the condition can severely affect both rest and overall well-being.
On the show, Amaal further revealed that he has been battling this disorder since the age of nine. Despite growing older, he continues to manage its challenges even today.
Doctors note that sleep apnea generally occurs either due to a blocked airway, known as obstructive sleep apnea, or because the brain fails to regulate breathing properly, known as central sleep apnea.
Amaal’s openness about his condition has not only shed light on his personal struggles but also raised awareness about a disorder that often goes undiagnosed.
