On his 75th birthday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reiterated his appeal for citizens to prioritize indigenous products to help realize the vision of a developed India. Speaking at a public gathering in Dhar district, Madhya Pradesh, he emphasized that a self-reliant India is essential for achieving the goal of a developed nation by 2047. He stated, "As we celebrate festivals, it is crucial to keep promoting the mantra of indigenous products... I urge all 1.4 billion Indians to ensure that whatever you purchase is made in India... Let there be the sweat of an Indian behind every product you buy."
Modi expressed that every purchase should carry the essence of Indian soil. He seeks the cooperation of citizens in building a developed India by 2047, asserting that the path to a developed nation lies through self-reliance. Reflecting on Mahatma Gandhi's advocacy for indigenous products, he remarked, "Gandhi made self-reliance a means to freedom, and now we must establish it as the foundation for a developed India."
The Prime Minister explained that when citizens buy locally made products, their money remains within the country, which can then be utilized for development projects such as building roads, schools, and primary health centers, as well as supporting impoverished and widowed mothers. Earlier this month, following the introduction of GST reforms by the central government, he proudly emphasized the theme of 'Proudly Say, This is Indigenous' and encouraged MPs to organize 'Indigenous Fairs' during Diwali and Navratri to promote Indian products and motivate people to purchase them.
He urged every MP to host exhibitions in their constituencies to showcase local artisans, micro and small industries, and indigenous products. Modi stated, "Every shop should display a sign that reads, 'Proudly Say, This is Indigenous.' State governments should launch campaigns for this purpose." He added, "Starting from September 22, the new GST reforms will come into effect. We must take advantage of these by purchasing Indian products."
