Bihar Elections: In the monsoon session of Parliament on Wednesday, there was a lot of uproar when the government introduced three important bills in the Lok Sabha, which provided to remove the leaders arrested or detained in serious criminal charges.
Home Minister Amit Shah introduced the Union Government (Amendment) Bill 2025, Constitution (130th Amendment) Bill 2025 and Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization (Amendment) Bill 2025 in the Lok Sabha. As soon as these bills were placed on the floor of the House, the opposition parties started strong opposition.
Many MPs of the opposition tore copies of the bill and jumped into the House. Congress MP Manish Tiwari and AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi termed it against the Constitution and said that the bill is against democratic traditions.
Home Minister Amit Shah dismissed the allegations of the opposition and said that the government has not taken any hurry. He assured that the bill will be assigned to the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC), where MPs of both the side and the opposition would consider it deeply. Shah said, “Only after discussing all aspects, the committee will put its report in front of the House.”
The government believes that these amendments will strengthen the credibility of democratic institutions and can prevent the leaders trapped in crime from being in power. At the same time, the opposition says that this step has been taken in a sense of political revenge and is an attempt to target the opposition leaders.
