Pakistan Beat UAE by 41 Runs; Set to Face India in Super 4s

Pakistan secured a 41-run victory in the Asia Cup 2025 game against UAE on September 18 at Dubai.

By this win they secured second spot in the Group A points table and will be the second team to qualify for Super Fours. The Men in Green are set to face India once again in the continental event.

After being put to bat first, Shaibzada Farhan and Saim Ayub opened the innings for Pakistan while Junaid Siddique opened the attack.

With the dismissal of Ayub for duck, Siddique went on the pick the wicket of Farhan for 5 runs. However, Fakhan Zaman and Salman Agha quickly revived the innings after quick dismissals scoring 39 runs in the powerplay.

The duo went on to stitch 61-run partnership for the third wicket before Dhruv Parashar bagged the wicket of Salman Agha for 20 runs.

With the fall of wickets at regular intervals, Fakhar Zaman went on to slam 36-ball fifty which included 2 fours and 3 sixes.

After his dismissal by Simaranjeet Singh, Pakistan lost back to back wickets losing Hasan Nawaz (3), Khushdil Shah (4) and Mohammad Nawaz (4) runs.

However, Mohammad Haris and Shaheen Afridi tried to anchor the innings before Haris went back to dug out after Siddique bowled him out for 18 runs.

Shaheen Afridi went on to play a cameo scoring 29* runs off 14 deliveries pushing Pakistan’s total to 146 runs before the dismissal of Rauf on a run out.

Junaid Siddique went on to pick four wickets and Simranjeet Singh’s three wickets along with Dhruv Parashar’s crucial wicket has restricted Pakistan for a middling total.

In the pursuit of chasing 147 run target, Alishan Sharafu and Muhammad Waseem opened the innings for UAE while, Shaheen Afridi opened the bowling attck.

Afridi bagged the first wicket of Sharafu for 12 runs. With Waseem’s dismissal for 14 runs, Zohaib’s dismissal for 4 runs put UAE lose 3 wickets as they scored only 38 runs in the powerplay.

However, Rahul Chopra and Dhruv Parashar went on to stablise the innings scoring 35 and 20 runs.

With Asif Khan and Harshit Kaushik got dismissed for duck, Haider Ali, Simranjeet Singh and Rohid Khan were sent back to dugout for 6, 1 and 2 respectively.

UAE got bowled out for 105 runs in the 18th over and lost the game by 41 runs. Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf and Abrar Ahmed picked two wickets each while Saim Ayub and Salman Agha went on to pick one wickets each.

Shaheen Afridi was named as the Player of the match. “Just practising in the nets. Whatever am practising, trying to execute the same. Looking forward to the upcoming games. We lost early wickets and then middle overs. My job is to go and hit the ball. Team needed an early breakthrough and I try to provide that,” concluded Shaheen Afridi in the post match conference.
