Jannik Sinner has been told that he is not "unplayable" as he prepares to face Felix Auger-Aliassime in the Paris Masters final. The world No. 2 is on an incredible 24-match winning streak on indoor hard courts, and he will return to the top of the rankings if he claims the title at the La Defense Arena on Sunday.

But Auger-Aliassime is standing in his way. The Canadian is hunting his biggest career title, and a win would also guarantee him a spot at the ATP Finals. While Sinner is looking forward to facing "one of the nicest guys on tour" in Auger-Aliassime, the world No. 10 is ready to cause an upset.

Auger-Aliassime has lost both of his matches against Sinner this year, but he was encouraged by their last meeting. The world 25-year-old put Sinner in a spot of bother when they faced off in the US Open semi-finals this summer before the Italian regrouped to win 6-1 3-6 6-3 6-4.

It came just weeks after Sinner thrashed Auger Aliassime 6-0 6-2 in Cincinnati. And the Canadian says it's proof that he's getting closer to the four-time Major winner.

"In Cincinnati the loss was very hard. I was far from winning against him. So this time it was much better. At one point I saw him doubt. And I actually, at one point, I nearly had a momentum shift where I could turn the match around in my favour," Auger-Aliassime said of their recent US Open clash.

"After different reasons, maybe he had a letdown, and the match turns around again. But it was encouraging to see that. These players are not unplayable. They are very strong, yes. Sometimes they're really unplayable. But there's a way to upset them in a way."

Auger-Aliassime already has an encouraging 2-2 record against Sinner, but he pointed out that his two wins came before the Italian cemented himself as one of the world's best players.

"We're 2-2 but obviously he's the favourite on paper, because we played a good match I think in New York. I think it was good tennis. But he still got the best of me.

"Obviously, the first times I won, it was before he was Jannik, you know. It was, like, young Jannik. He improved a lot since then. But it's always good to play him.

"I feel like he pushes players to be very, very disciplined tactically and to execute their game, you know, almost perfectly in order to win. You have to be ready to play your best tennis and to not make cheap mistakes. So I'm going to try to do that and win tomorrow."

Auger-Aliassime has also shown significant improvement in recent months, boasting a 15-3 record since the start of the US Open. And Sinner has taken notice.

The world No. 2 was full of praise for the Canadian after setting up a fifth meeting in the Paris Masters final.

"He plays incredible tennis at the moment, he has improved a lot, especially in the past months. He has found his game again, so I'm looking forward to it tomorrow, playing against him again, especially in a final, it's a great occasion for both of us and obviously you hope for a great final," Sinner said.

"Again, I'm very happy for Felix, he is one of the nicest guys we have on tour, and sharing the final with him, it's going to be something special. We both will try to push each other to the limits, it's going to be a very difficult match tomorrow. I'm just very happy, I will enjoy the atmosphere. After that match, I know that I have a couple of days off, which helps too."
