Turn off auto-download on Android

  • First, open WhatsApp on your smartphone and tap on Settings.
  • Search for chat option and open it.

  • Open WhatsApp and go to Settings.
  • Click on Chats and open any individual or group.

  • Go to Save to Photo and select Never.
