Leading India A, star batter Rishabh Pant made a stunning return to red-ball cricket at the BCCI's Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.

Pant slammed a 113-ball 90 as the hosts attempted to chase 275 against South Africa A.

The middle-order batter shone after a three-month injury lay-off due to a toe fracture he suffered earlier this year during the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy in England.

Resuming from an overnight score of 64 on Day 4, Pant raced to 90 off just 113 balls.

His 90-run knock was laced with 11 fours and 4 sixes, much to the delight of the Bengaluru crowd.

However, he was dismissed by Tiaan van Vuuren while trying for another big hit. With his departure, India A were down to 172/5.

Pant suffered toe fracture in England Test
Injury details

Earlier this year, Pant suffered a painful toe fracture after being hit by a Chris Woakes ball in the 4th Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy in England.

The injury resulted in him being carried off the field. He missed out on wicket-keeping duties for the remainder of the match.

However, showing resilience and courage, he returned to bat with his foot strapped in a cast, helping India save the match.

Pant opens up on recovery process
Recovery insights

Reflecting on his recovery, Pant told BCCI in a video, "It was really challenging for me. I had that fracture in England and had to go through the whole process."

He added, "The first part was about healing for six weeks, and then I came to the CoE. The healing went well."

On staying mentally strong during recovery, he said, "Being positive is all about mindset. When you're injured, it's easy to get frustrated and lose energy."
