To protect from cold, we all wear woolen clothes like sweaters, shawls, socks, jackets. But some people start getting skin allergies due to wearing woolen clothes. Wearing warm clothes causes red spots or fine rashes on the skin, due to which irritation, itching and burning sensation starts on the skin. If this problem happens to you too, then today we will tell you how this problem can be avoided if some things are kept in mind while wearing woolen clothes.
Wear cotton layer and do not wear woolen clothes directly on the body. First wear light cotton or linen clothes, put a sweater or shawl over it. This will prevent the wool from rubbing against the skin.
Moisturize the skin. Apply moisturizer or body oil immediately after bathing so that the skin remains moisturized. Aloe vera gel, cocoa butter, or coconut oil are good choices.
Choose light and soft woolen clothes. If you are allergic to wool, try clothes made of merino wool, cashmere, or acrylic blends — these are softer than regular wool.
Wash clothes properly. Use mild detergent while washing woolen clothes. If detergent remains in the wool after washing, it can also increase skin irritation.
Do not let the skin remain dry. Do not take very hot water for bathing in cold winds – this makes the skin more dry. Take a bath with lukewarm water and apply moisturizer immediately afterwards.
If allergy increases, apply antihistamine or mild hydrocortisone cream as per doctor’s advice. If there is persistent itching, burning or red spots, definitely consult a dermatologist.
