A heartbreaking incident occurred in Chengalpattu district where a mother and her daughter lost their lives after jumping in front of a speeding train. Authorities reported the tragic event on Tuesday.

A senior officer from the Government Railway Police revealed that this incident took place on November 10, near a railway crossing in the area.

According to police, the 36-year-old woman was deeply affected by the recent death of her son, who drowned in a pond close to their home on November 8. Additionally, her 13-year-old daughter was reported to have mental health challenges.

The officer further stated that on Monday, the woman informed her neighbors that she was stepping out and took her daughter along. Upon reaching the railway tracks, both reportedly jumped in front of the Tirupati-Puducherry train, resulting in their immediate deaths. Police confirmed that the bodies were handed over to the family after post-mortem examinations.
