In today’s fast-paced and stressful professional life, the office is no longer just a place to work. Here, it is becoming common to form an emotional bond between colleagues while working together for hours every day. Many times, this spontaneous closeness turns into a romantic relationship with time. Interestingly, such office romance is now slowly gaining acceptance across the world. In this matter, Indian employees have created a new record in the world.

People from a total of 11 countries participated in the study.

According to a recent international survey conducted by Ashley Medisal, India ranks second in the world in terms of office romance. People from a total of 11 countries were included in this study, which included countries like India, America, Britain, Spain, Germany and Australia.

The biggest finding of the report was that 4 out of 10, or 40 percent, of Indian employees have been or are currently in a relationship with one of their office colleagues. At the top is Mexico, where 43 percent people have confirmed office affairs. After this comes India’s turn. Whereas in America, Britain and Canada this figure is around 30 percent.

The report also revealed that men are more likely to date a colleague than women. While 51 percent of men admitted to having a relationship with some colleague, the figure for women was recorded at 36 percent.

Vigilance towards career among women

More vigilance towards career was found among women. About 29 percent of women said that they shy away from getting involved in office romance because it can have a negative impact on their professional growth. This number was found to be 27 percent in men. The special thing is that young employees aged between 18 to 24 years appeared to be the most cautious about office affairs. He fears that such a relationship could overshadow his early career.

India coming second in office romance is not only a sign of changing relationships, but it also reflects the change in social thinking. Along with traditional relationships, people’s thinking in India has also changed regarding concepts like open relationships. According to a survey by dating app Gleeden, 35 percent people in the country are in open relationships, while 41 percent people can consider adopting such an arrangement.

The surprising thing is that this change is not limited to metros only. Small cities are also progressing rapidly in this. For example, Kanchipuram is among the cities where interest in extra-marital affairs has been recorded the highest.
