Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), the central bank of Nepal, has issued a new 100 rupee note on Thursday. In this note, the revised map of Nepal has been printed, in which Kalapani, Lipulekh and Limpiyadhura have been shown as part of Nepal. India has been objecting to declaring these areas as part of Nepal.

The new note bears the signature of former Governor Mahaprasad Adhikari. The date of issue of the note is written as 2081 Vikrami Samvat (year 2024). The then Prime Minister of Nepal in May 2020 KP Sharma Oli The government had released a new political map, in which these three disputed areas were shown within the border of Nepal. Later the Parliament of Nepal also approved this map.

India had protested earlier also

At that time, India had strongly protested against Nepal's move calling it a unilateral decision. India had said that such exaggerated expansion of the map cannot be accepted. India claims that these three areas belong to it.

According to the spokesperson of Nepal Rastra Bank, the old Rs 100 note also had the map of Nepal, but after the government's decision, it has been modified and a new note has been prepared. He told that there is no map on the notes of Rs 10, 50, 500 and 1000. Nepal's map is printed only in 100 rupee notes.

How is the design of the new note?

Many elements have been included in the design of the new note. There is a picture of Mount Everest on the left side of the note. At right appears a watermarked image of Rhododendron, the national flower of Nepal. There is a light green colored map of Nepal in the middle of the note. Ashoka Pillar and Lumbini are written near the map.

There is a picture of a one-horned rhinoceros on the reverse side of the note. Also, for safety, it has a security thread and a raised black dot, so that visually impaired people can easily identify it.

Nepal shares about 1850 km long border with India, which connects Sikkim, West Bengal, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. The value of 100 Nepali rupees in India is ₹62.56.
