Instagram has announced a major update aimed at Indian users, clearly demonstrating the importance of India to the platform. Soon, with AI-powered translation tools, creators will be able to easily translate their Reels into Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Marathi.
Instagram Update: US tech giant Instagram has announced two major updates, demonstrating the importance of India to its platform. With millions of creators and one of the largest user bases in the world, Instagram is expanding its AI-powered translation tools and introducing new Indian fonts to help creators easily share their ideas and reach more people. Let's explore the new features Instagram has introduced.
Meta AI will now offer translations in five more Indian languages.
Meta has confirmed that AI translation for Reels will now be available in Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Marathi. Previously, this feature was only available in English, Hindi, Spanish, and Portuguese. This means that creators will now be able to translate their Reels into these new languages with Meta AI, making their content more accessible to different states and cultures. According to the company, this tool translates while maintaining the creator's original voice and style.
Indian Fonts Available in Instagram Edits
Instagram is also introducing new fonts for Indian languages to its editing tools. Soon, users will have options for scripts like Devanagari, Bengali, and Assamese, allowing them to style their captions and screen text in Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, and Assamese.
As soon as these new fonts become available, they will appear in the text section of the editing timeline. If the user's device is already set to these languages, these fonts will appear first by default. Otherwise, the user can filter fonts based on their language preferences. According to the company, this update will first roll out to Android in the coming days.
