Schools Closed in Delhi: The nation's capital, Delhi, has become a pollution capital these days. Pollution levels in Delhi and its neighboring NCR regions, including Noida, Ghaziabad, Greater Noida, Gurugram, and Faridabad, are consistently being recorded at 300-400, 500, and even higher. Delhiites have been grappling with various problems caused by pollution for the past 1-1.5 months. In response to the situation, the Delhi government shifted classes up to grade 5 to online mode.

This order was issued for a week. Subsequently, when no updated orders were received from the Delhi government, schools removed the online mode and shifted classes to hybrid mode. This meant that students could attend classes in school if they wished, or study from home if they did not wish. Despite pollution levels returning to normal, the restrictions imposed under Group 3 have been lifted. This has led to confusion regarding school closures/hybrid mode.

Delhi Pollution: Are schools open or closed on Monday?

Due to pollution in Delhi, problems like eye irritation, headaches, colds, coughs, stomach aches, and vomiting have become common. Children and adults alike are suffering from various problems. Doctors believe that Delhi's pollution is also having a profound impact on mental health. Meanwhile, many schools have sent notices to parents about the resumption of regular classes from Monday. This means that starting Monday (December 1, 2025), children up to grade 5 will attend classes in person. The hybrid mode is now being suspended until further notice.

Guidelines for Children

Missing school for extended periods is not an option. However, it is crucial to take care of yourself during this harsh weather. Children should wear N95 masks to school. This will help protect them from pollution. Similarly, schools may choose to suspend outdoor activities for a longer period of time. This will allow children to spend more time indoors and avoid exposure to outside air. If a child experiences any health problems, consult a doctor immediately.
