Nothing has started rolling out its general release of Nothing OS 4.0, the company’s latest custom skin based on Android 16, for three of its smartphones. The update officially began on 28 November for the Nothing Phone (2), Nothing Phone (2a) and the newly added Nothing Phone (2a) Plus. The software brings UI changes, new creative tools and privacy upgrades, along with device-specific firmware versions.

Nothing OS 4.0 arrives with different build numbers depending on the model:

Key changes you will see in Nothing OS 4.0

The update introduces new options to improve the experience right from the home screen. Users can now hide apps with a single step, while the app drawer gets cleaner and smoother to use. Even the Nothing app icon has been refreshed with a new design.

Nothing OS 4.0 Update: Camera gets new styles, filters and longer Motion Photos

Nothing has packed several upgrades into the camera system. The list of default presets now includes new popular styles. The update also adds intensity adjustment and exclusive stretch-style filters. Motion Photos can record for longer and now capture audio.

Creators will notice new Nothing-branded watermarks and artistic frames for their photos. The camera interface has also been revamped with an updated UI and better interactions.

Nothing OS 4.0 Update: Other functional tweaks

Nothing OS 4.0 also updates the Glyph lights, search bar and app drawer behaviour, adding small but noticeable changes across the system.

Nothing OS 4.0 rollout for Nothing Phone 3a Lite

The company is expected to push this update to the recently launched Nothing Phone 3a Lite, which currently runs Nothing OS 3.5 out of the box. Priced at ₹22,999 in India, the Phone 3a Lite comes with a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Pro chipset and 12GB RAM. It sports a 6.77-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a 5,000mAh battery, a 50MP + 8MP dual rear camera, and a 16MP front camera.
