News India Live, Digital Desk: When winter season comes, it brings with it many happiness and enjoyment of food and drink. But, for people who have heart disease or whose blood pressure (BP) keeps going up and down, this season also brings a little fear. You must have often heard that cases of heart attacks increase in cold. Do you know why? Because in cold our veins shrink and the heart has to work twice as hard to pump blood. But there is no need to panic. There is such a precious thing hidden in the treasury of our Ayurveda, which has been protecting the human heart for centuries. That is Arjun Ki Chhaal. If you think of it as just a piece of wood, then you are mistaken. It is a natural tonic. Come, let us understand in very simple language how its use in winter can save your life. This bark is ‘nectar’ for the heart. The bark of Arjuna tree is considered no less than a boon for the heart muscles. If you feel short of breath even after walking a little or feel heaviness in the chest while climbing stairs, it means that the heart is becoming weak. Arjuna bark has such properties which keep the heartbeat in rhythm and strengthen it. It also helps in melting the bad cholesterol accumulated in the veins, due to which the blood flows easily. Winter cough and shortness of breath: Not only the heart, many people suffer from chronic cough or difficulty in breathing (condition like Asthma) in winter. The effect of Arjuna bark is such that it gives strength to the lungs and does not allow mucus to accumulate in the chest. That means “one religion, two things”—fits the heart as well as the lungs. How to use it? (Correct way to make it) Its taste may be a bit astringent, but this much can be done for health. There are two easiest ways to take it: Arjuna tea (most popular): You can make this tea before sleeping at night or with breakfast in the morning. Add half a teaspoon of Arjuna bark powder (easily available in the market) and a little cinnamon to a glass of milk and boil it. When the milk boils well, filter it and drink it lukewarm. It is a million times better than your regular tea. Kadha (with water): People who do not drink milk can boil it in water and drink it as a decoction. Some jaggery or honey can be added to it for taste. Our suggestion: Friends, health cannot be bought with money, but it can definitely be managed. This Arjun bark, available for Rs 50-100, can save you from hospital expenses worth lakhs of rupees. If you are already taking heart medicines, then ask your doctor once before starting it, rest trust in nature. This winter, give your heart strength like ‘Arjun’
