As December begins, several important changes are going to be implemented, which can directly impact daily activities and household budgets. Some important deadlines related to banking, taxes, pensions, and everyday services are also very near. It's important to know these updates before the month changes.
As the last week of November draws to a close, several important financial deadlines are also approaching. These changes, which will come into effect on November 30th and December 1st, will directly impact bank customers, pensioners, taxpayers, and household budgets. Failure to meet certain deadlines may result in the suspension of services, while other regulations may increase or decrease expenses like fuel, LPG, and airfare. Therefore, it's crucial to understand all these guidelines before the month changes.
Last Date to Switch from NPS to UPS
November 30th is the last day for central government employees who wish to switch from the National Pension System (NPS) to the Unified Pension Scheme (UPS). This option selection process must be completed online on the CRA portal or by applying to the nodal office. After this, the facility will be discontinued.
SBI to Discontinue mCASH Service
State Bank of India will be removing its mCASH money-sending and claiming service from OnlineSBI and YONO Lite after November 30th. The bank is advising customers to shift to secure and widely used digital payment options such as UPI, IMPS, NEFT, or RTGS.
LPG Price Changes
As usual, the prices of domestic and commercial LPG cylinders will be revised on December 1st. Last month, there was a slight reduction in commercial LPG prices, but now families are waiting to see whether domestic LPG prices will increase or decrease this time. These rates directly impact the monthly expenses of families.
New Deadline for PAN-Aadhaar Linking
The Income Tax Department has extended the deadline for linking PAN-Aadhaar to December 31 for those who obtained their PAN card through Aadhaar enrollment ID before October 1, 2024. Failure to complete this process within the stipulated time may result in the PAN card being deactivated.
December 31st Opportunity to File Belated ITR
The CBDT has extended the deadline for filing ITR for tax audit cases to December 10th. This date was previously October 31st, but has now been extended to provide taxpayers with sufficient time.
Life Certificate Deadline for Pensioners
It is mandatory for government pensioners to submit their Life Certificate (Jeevan Pramaan Patra) by November 30th. This process is necessary for pension continuation. Pensioners can also obtain this certificate through the Aadhaar-based biometric system in the form of a Digital Life Certificate (DLC).
ATF prices will also change from December 1st.
Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) prices will also be revised on December 1st. An increase in ATF rates directly impacts airline costs and could increase airfares during the festive and holiday season.
December will begin with several significant economic and administrative changes. Therefore, adhering to deadlines is crucial to ensuring the smooth functioning of everyday services such as banking, taxes, pensions, and gas.
