Questions raised on the examination system of Kurukshetra University

Kurukshetra University, Kaithal. Once again questions have been raised on the examination system of Kurukshetra University. For the BA Hindi third semester examination, which was to be held on November 29, the university sent the same old question paper which was used in the last session, although this time the syllabus had completely changed.

As soon as the students received the question paper, they immediately started protesting, causing chaos at the examination centres. Ultimately the university had to cancel the examination midway.

At Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar College, Jagadishpura, 90 students appeared, while at RKSD College, Kaithal, 542 students had registered to take the exam. Due to a mistake in the question paper at both the centres, students had to return without taking the exam. This negligence ruined the year-long hard work of the students. Many students said that as per the rules reprinting of the same question paper is prohibited, yet how did this happen.

Panic at examination centers

There was chaos and confusion at the examination centers for half an hour.

As soon as the students received the question paper, they informed the room invigilators that the paper did not match the new syllabus. Inspectors investigated and found that the question paper contained prose verses and chapters which had been removed from the new syllabus.

The central administration immediately contacted the controller of examinations, but it took time for the instructions to come. The situation remained extremely controversial for about 20 to 25 minutes. At some centres, students expressed their displeasure, while at some places girl students were seen demanding new papers.

Finally, after about half an hour a clear order came that the wrong question paper had been sent and the exam was cancelled. After this the students were sent back home. As soon as they came out, anger was clearly visible among the students and parents. Many students were seen crying in disappointment.

students’ resentment

Displeased students said, studied whole year, today everything is useless

Vandana Sharma, a BA third semester student, said that she prepared according to the new syllabus throughout the year, but this mistake of the university ruined her hard work. Now they will have to take the exam again.

A student at RKSD College, on condition of anonymity, said that he had come from 50 kilometers away to appear for the exam, but was disappointed after reaching the centre. He said that such a big mistake raises big questions on the credibility of the education system.

Inspector Vikas Yadav of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar College said that as soon as the students received the paper, they said that it was out of the syllabus. After talking to the university, it came to light that the old paper had been sent by mistake.

cancellation order

Both the centers immediately informed and then order of cancellation came.

As soon as the question paper was distributed at both the centres, students termed it as out of syllabus. The superintendents of the centers immediately reported this mistake to the confidentiality branch of Kurukshetra University.

The confidential branch said that RKSD College immediately reported the situation, after which about 30 minutes an order to cancel the paper was issued over the phone. After this all the candidates were sent out of the centre. Information about the entire incident was also sent to the university through e-mail.
