PAK vs SL: Mohammad Nawaz and Shaheen Afridi destroy Sri Lanka, Pakistan clinch Tri-Series title

Pakistan stormed to victory in the tri-series final bowling out the last nine Sri Lanka wickets for just 30 runs and then chasing the target of 115 comfortably finishing the game in the 19th over. Earlier Shaheen Shah Afridi and Mohammad Nawaz each took three wickets while Abrar Ahmed claimed two putting Sri Lanka under pressure in the second half of their innings. Sri Lanka had looked solid at 84 for 1 in the 11th over but the game turned when Nawaz dismissed Kusal Mendis with a smart catch by Babar Azam at the boundary. From that point Sri Lanka collapsed losing wickets mostly to spin but also to pace finishing all out for 114 in 19.1 overs. Smooth Chase for Pakistan Chasing a modest target Pakistan batted calmly. Openers Sahibzada Farhan and Saim Ayub added 46 runs together and Babar Azam scored a steady 37 not out to guide the team home without any real pressure. The chase was slow but effective Pakistan never had to take risks. Sri Lankas Collapse Sri Lankas innings fell apart after their second-wicket partnership of 64 runs. Spinners Nawaz Abrar and Ayub took control quickly picking wickets. Abrar dismissed Kusal Perera and Pavan Rathnayake in consecutive balls and Ayub caught top-scorer Kamil Mishara. Nawaz then removed Janith Liyanage and Wanindu Hasaranga. Seven consecutive partnerships added six runs or fewer showing how fast Sri Lanka’s innings crumbled. Babar Azam Leads from the Front Babar Azams 37 not out off 34 balls was careful but effective for a low target. He also excelled in the field taking three excellent catches: one to dismiss Mendis at the boundary one on the run to catch Mishara and a diving catch inside the circle to get Rathnayake. His performance showed he is regaining his best form.
