The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has issued an important advisory for NEET PG 2026 candidates who wish to change their category status from Indian to Non-Resident Indian (NRI). A notice in this regard has been issued on the official website. Candidates can check the notice by visiting the official website. Candidates who wish to claim NRI status must submit all required supporting documents by email only to nri.adgmemcc1@gmail.com. The submission window is from 11:00 AM on December 1, 2025, to 08:00 AM on December 3, 2025. Emails received outside this timeframe will be immediately rejected. MCC emphasizes that all documents must be attached to a single email to ensure a complete submission for processing.
The notice reads, "All candidates are informed that those who are claiming to be NRIs as per the directions/orders of the Hon'ble Supreme Court in the matter (W.P. (C) No. 689/2017- Association of Deemed Universities in Karnataka (CODEUNIK) & others vs. Union of India & others) dated 22-08-2017 (copy enclosed), such candidates should send their relevant documents mentioned below in support of their claim for change of nationality from Indian to NRI through e-mail nri.adgmemcc1@gmail.com between 11:00 AM on December 1, 2025 to 08:00 AM on December 3, 2025. All such candidates are advised to stay in touch with the MCC website (www.mcc.nic.in) for further action. Candidates are advised to send all the documents in a single mail, within the stipulated time."
Documentation Required

Proof of Abroad Residence
Documents such as utility bills, rental agreements, or bank statements to prove continuous residence outside India.
NRI Relationship Proof
Documents proving the relationship between the candidate and the NRI parent (e.g., birth certificate, passport details).
Income/Employment Certificate
Certificate showing that the parent is earning/working abroad.
Affidavit or Declaration
An affidavit claiming NRI status and eligibility under the Supreme Court judgment.
