On the second day of the 15-day winter session, Parliament experienced similar disruptions as seen on Monday, with the opposition likely to stage new protests in both houses. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is set to introduce the Central Excise (Amendment) Bill, 2025, while discussions on the Special Intensive Review (SIR) will continue.

The session commenced on Monday with intense opposition protests, leading to multiple adjournments in the Lok Sabha and a walkout by opposition members from the Rajya Sabha.

Opposition's Stance on Special Intensive Review

On the second day of the winter session, protests regarding the Special Intensive Review (SIR) are anticipated at the Makar Dwar of Parliament, suggesting that disruptions will persist as they did on Monday.

Concerns Over Electoral Processes

MPs Gaurav Gogoi and Vijay Kumar have expressed concerns about the vulnerabilities arising from outdated, non-digital voter lists, labeling it a 'serious national concern' and calling for a modern, centralized monitoring system. Additionally, MP Vijay Kumar has proposed a motion to suspend proceedings, arguing that the Election Commission's SIR process is hasty and poses a threat to electoral stability.
