New Delhi: Currently, chronic kidney disease is becoming a serious problem, often called the ‘silent killer’. It is not limited to kidneys only, but it affects the entire health of men. Unhealthy eating habits, stress and irregular routine are considered to be its main reasons. Many times the patient is not aware of it until the situation becomes serious.
According to doctors, due to chronic kidney disease the risk of heart attack and heart failure increases significantly. When the kidneys do not function properly, toxic elements start accumulating in the body, which has a negative effect on the heart muscle. This risk is higher in men, because they often ignore the initial symptoms.
This disease also affects mental health. Loss of memory, lack of attention and mental fatigue are its common symptoms. Increase in toxins in the body can cause neurological problems, which increases the risk of depression and anxiety.
Experts say that smoking, excessive alcohol consumption and working sitting for long hours increases the risk of chronic kidney disease in men. Moreover, not getting health checkups done on time and ignoring minor symptoms makes the situation more serious.
Many men ignore pain or weakness by associating it with work pressure, whereas these signs could be of kidney- problems.
Doctors suggest that the disease can be detected early by regular blood tests, urine tests and blood pressure monitoring. If treatment is started on time, serious effects on the heart and brain can be avoided. A balanced diet, adequate water intake and avoidance of stress can help keep the kidneys healthy.
