Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan has finally addressed speculation about his upcoming project with Tamil director Lokesh Kanagaraj. Speaking at the 23rd Hindustan Times Leadership Summit, the 60-year-old actor confirmed that discussions for the collaboration are ongoing.
Aamir revealed, “Lokesh and I are supposed to meet up. We spoke last month and he said he will come to Bombay at some point, and we will go through the narration. So, that is on the cards as of now.” This statement ends weeks of rumors suggesting that the project might have been shelved, especially after Aamir’s brief cameo in Kanagaraj’s recent blockbuster Coolie.
In Coolie, superstar Rajinikanth plays Deva, a worker investigating his friend’s mysterious death. Aamir appears in a surprise cameo as Dahaa, a mafia leader involved in organ trafficking. Despite the short screen time, his character leaves a dramatic impact and hints that the story is far from over.
Meanwhile, Aamir had also been working on a biopic of Dadasaheb Phalke with director Rajkumar Hirani. Reports suggest the project was temporarily put on hold due to creative differences.
Earlier, Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, and Salman Khan are often referred to as the ‘last stars’ in Bollywood, but Mr. Perfectionist Aamir Khan does not seem to agree with this idea.
In an interview, the actor shared that he believes that the current and upcoming generations of actors will become equally big stars.
When asked about his thoughts on this generation not enjoying stardom like the 90s actors, Aamir disagreed and said, “Every generation is better than the previous generation, they have our experience, this generation and the next generation will be just as big stars.”
Aamir added that “But I don’t think there won’t be any stars after this, we are the last stars, it’s not like that, many will come after us.”
