Actually, here a man filed a lawsuit against his fiancee saying that she had eaten too much and now he has demanded to return all the money spent on her. After the news of this court hearing came out on 9 December social media But it went viral. However, after this he is facing criticism online.
According to Chinese media outlet Zonglan News, a man named Wang has filed a lawsuit against his fiancee and has demanded the return of 20,000 yuan (2,800 US dollars) i.e. about Rs 2.50 lakhs spent by his family on the fiancee's family. Apart from this, he also demanded from her to return the 30,000 Yuan (4,200 US dollars) i.e. about Rs 3.76 lakh, which he had spent on her during their dating. This also included purchasing of clothes.
According to the report of South China Morning Post, both Wang and his fiancee are residents of the same village in Heilongjiang province of China. They met through a mediator and after that they got engaged. After this, both of them went to Hebei province of North China and started running the restaurant run by the girl's family. Wang helped run the business for about six months, but he refused to work further, saying that his fiancée only did simple tasks.
Wang later approached the court and demanded the return of the money spent on his fiancee. However, the court did not support her demand and said that the money was spent on personal items that had sentimental value to both parties and as for the 'bride price' of 20,000 yuan paid in advance, the court ruled that the woman would have to return half of it. In fact, 'bride price' is a traditional practice in China in which the groom's family gives money to the bride's family at the time of the wedding as a symbol of their sincerity in welcoming the woman into their family.
