There is an uproar in Bangladesh at this time. There has been unrest in the country since the recent death of student leader Sharif Usman Hadi. 32 year old Hadi was about to stand in the elections. But, he was shot just after the election dates were announced. After this he was shifted to Singapore for treatment. But, he died during treatment. People have taken to the streets since Hadi's death. There is a lot of sloganeering in the country. People are demanding from the government and police to punish Hadi's killer.

Hadi The last rites were performed on Saturday amid tight security. Chief advisor to the interim government Mohammad Yunus, members of his advisory council and army chief General Walker-uz-Zaman were also present at the funeral. Lakhs of people reached Hadi's funeral. During this time too, people demanded the arrest of Hadi's murderer.

Who is Hadi's killer?

According to the information, the name of the person who killed Hadi is said to be Faisal Karim Masood. But, the police has not found any clue of the gunman. He is still absconding from the reach of the police. According to The Telegraph, Masood was a leader of the banned student organization Chhatra League, which is the student wing of the Awami League. Awami League is the political party of former Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina.

According to the media report, quoting a local journalist, it has been told that before carrying out the attack, Masood, along with another suspected motorcyclist Alamgir, had also participated in Hadi's election campaign. The police had arrested Masood in connection with a robbery that took place in a school in Dhaka about a year ago. A pistol was also recovered from him.

According to the information revealed, before carrying out the attack, Masood had told his girlfriend that something big was going to happen. According to the report of Dhaka-based Jamuna Television, Faisal told Maria, something will happen which will shake the entire country.

Where is Faisal Karim Masood?

According to Bangladeshi media Prothom Alo, Additional Inspector General of Police Khondakar Rafiqul Islam said that the police have no information about the whereabouts of Faisal Karim Masood, the main accused in Hadi's murder case. He said that there is no concrete information whether Faisal Karim has crossed the border of Bangladesh or he is still present inside the country. However, the police is busy investigating.

Why did you attack?

DMP Additional Commissioner (Detective) Shafiqul Islam said that he did not have any concrete information about the main accused in the Usman Hadi murder case. It has not been confirmed whether the accused is still in the country or has gone abroad. When asked about the motive behind the murder, he said that the investigation is ongoing and the reason is not clear at the moment. He also said that the motive for the murder could be political rather than personal.

Along with this, on the question of any political affiliation of the accused, he said that investigation is being done on this matter.

Shot while returning from election campaign

Sharif Usman Bin Hadi, spokesperson of Inquilab Forum and face of July People's Movement, was campaigning as an independent candidate from Dhaka-8 constituency. On December 12, while returning from campaigning in Motijeel area, he was shot by motorcycle-riding assailants on Box Culvert Road in Purana Paltan. After treatment for 6 days, he died in a hospital in Singapore on 18 December.

10 people were arrested

Law enforcement agencies have named former Chhatra League leader Faisal Karim Masood as the main suspect in the shooting of Usman Hadi. Investigators had earlier said they believed Faisal Karim had fled across the border to India. Although, 10 people including Faisal Karim's parents, wife and brother-in-law have been arrested in this case, but till now the law enforcement agencies have failed to provide any concrete information about his whereabouts.
