These days, a new and very dangerous online scam has emerged in big cities like Indore and Bhopal of Madhya Pradesh, which is rapidly making people its victims. This fraud case came into limelight when a video was shared on Instagram from an account named @personality_doctor. In this video, a woman alerted people by narrating the incident that happened with her family. The video has been viewed by millions of people so far, which clearly shows how serious and widespread this problem is becoming.

In the video, the woman tells that this scam happened with her brother. It started with a seemingly normal phone call, which was easy to ignore. His brother received a call from a person who introduced himself as a delivery partner. The caller said that despite calling several times he was not able to get in touch and then gave another mobile number and asked to call on that number. Since online ordering is common these days, his brother did not find anything suspicious in it.

How did this scam happen?

As soon as he called the given number, it was said on the other side that your call is being forwarded to some other number and to fix it some steps have to be followed. The person in front was talking with great confidence, which increased the trust even more. This is where the real fraud began. As soon as the process related to call forwarding was completed, within a few minutes his brother's WhatsApp account was completely hacked. After this, hackers also captured Instagram and Facebook accounts. The matter did not stop here, rather attempts were made to access the bank account. It was only when the family suddenly noticed strange activities related to the accounts that they began to suspect that something was wrong.

Understanding the seriousness of the situation, the family took immediate action without wasting time. He went straight to the nearest bank and got his bank account put on hold, so that no unauthorized transactions could take place. After this, a complaint about the entire incident was lodged in the cyber crime police station. It is a matter of relief that due to timely alertness, there was no financial loss. But the experience of mental stress and fear was no less.

Negligence becomes costly

This incident clearly shows how vicious cyber criminals have become in today's time. They are committing fraud by taking advantage of people's everyday habits. Misleading people in the name of delivery call, customer care, or any technical problem has now become a common method. Sometimes a small carelessness or step taken without thinking can put your entire digital life in danger. It is also a matter of concern that such scams are no longer limited to just big metros. People are becoming their victims even in small cities and towns. With the increasing use of smartphones and internet, cyber crime is also spreading rapidly. Many people still take digital security lightly, which is easily taken advantage of by fraudsters.

If you do online shopping or use digital payment, then it is very important to keep some things in mind. Do not immediately trust calls from any unknown number. If someone asks you to change call forwarding, OTP or any kind of setting, then be alert. Do not click on any link without checking nor share your personal information with anyone.
