Kerala Temple Secrets: Sri Padmanabhaswamy Temple located in Thiruvananthapuram, the capital of Kerala, is considered to be the richest temple not only in India but also in the world. But the fame of this temple is not only because of its immense gold and silver, but also because of the unsolved mystery hidden behind its seventh door, Vault B. When the basements of the temple were opened under the supervision of the Supreme Court, several tons of gold came out from five doors. But as soon as the turn of the seventh door came, there was silence there. After all, what is the secret of this door? Which has not been opened till date, let us know.
The most surprising thing about this door is that it has no lock, key, latch or nut-bolt. This is a huge iron door on which figures of two big snakes are carved. It looks as if these snakes are guarding this door.
According to mythological beliefs and the priests of the temple, this door has been closed not by any physical technique but by mesmerizing it through ancient Nag Bandham mantras. It is believed that it was protected by Siddha sages centuries ago so that the sanctity and treasure of the temple remain safe.
Experts in the scriptures say that this door can be opened only by an adept man or an ascetic who has complete knowledge of 'Garuda Mantra'. If a person tries to open it forcibly with wrong pronunciation or through modern machinery, it is believed that the result can be disastrous.
Local people and the royal family believe that opening this door would invite the wrath of Padmanabhaswamy, the incarnation of Lord Vishnu. It is said that in the 1930s, some robbers tried to open it, but a bunch of poisonous snakes attacked them, due to which they ran away. It is also believed that behind this door is the water of the unfathomable sea or some divine power, which if disturbed can bring disaster.
Keeping in view the management of the temple and the safety of the treasury, the Supreme Court had made a list of seven cellars. However, due to religious beliefs and security concerns regarding Vault B (the seventh door), there is a ban on opening it at present. The court believes that it is not appropriate to hurt the faith of devotees. Therefore Vault B of Padmanabhaswamy Temple still remains a challenge for science and the modern world.
