Security agencies in the country of Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni have made a shocking revelation. Italian police have arrested seven people on charges of providing financial support to Hamas, while an international arrest warrant has been issued against two other suspects. Investigation has revealed that these people were collecting donations in the name of humanitarian aid and sending the money to the Palestinian organization Hamas.

According to the Italian police, three such organizations are under investigation in this case, which officially claimed to help Palestinian citizens. But in reality these organizations became a means of raising funds for Hamas. According to police, these organizations collected about 7 million euros (about 8 million dollars), which were sent to organizations based in Gaza, the Palestinian territories and Israel, which had direct or indirect links to Hamas.

71 percent of the money reached directly to Hamas

The investigation has also revealed that more than 71 percent of the money collected in the name of donations was given directly to Hamas or its affiliated organizations. Police say that some money also reached the families of people who have been involved in terrorist attacks. The police statement clearly states that terrorism was being funded by taking advantage of the sentiments of the common people.

According to media reports, among those arrested is Mohammed Hannoun, who is said to be the president of the Palestinian Association in Italy. Hannoun is accused of playing an important role in collecting donations and delivering them to organizations affiliated with Hamas.

Italy's Home Minister Matteo Piantedosi has called this action a great success. He wrote on the social media platform X that this operation has exposed those activities which were supporting terrorist organizations in the name of helping the Palestinian people. The Home Minister clearly said that any kind of terrorist funding will not be tolerated on Italian soil.
