If you have ever traveled in a general coach, you must have seen a special kind of passengers. These are the same people who, as soon as they sit on the seat, claim that someone is about to arrive or that the place is already reserved for someone. Many times an acquaintance is actually coming, but often this excuse is made only so that no other passenger can sit there and they remain spread out comfortably. A recent video that went viral on this common but disturbing habit has drawn people's attention.
In this video, a uniformed policeman gets angry after seeing an elderly man standing inside the general coach. That elderly passenger does not have space to sit, while some people are sitting on the seat occupying more space than necessary. The policeman does not remain silent after seeing this. He explains in a stern tone to the passengers sitting inside and says that the person standing in front may be of his father's age, yet he is not being given a place to sit. He says in clear words that blocking space in the general coach or preventing others from sitting is wrong and if necessary, legal action can also be taken.
The effect of the policeman's rebuke is immediately visible. The passengers who were earlier talking about 'saving seats', now start occupying their seats and giving space to the elderly as well as other passengers. The atmosphere changes within a few minutes. The coach which earlier seemed uncomfortable and stressful, starts to see some order and humanity.
The name of this policeman seen in the video is being told as Santosh Panditrao Jaibhaye. He often shares videos on his Instagram account @santosh.jaybhaye.18 of adjusting passengers, explaining rules and fixing chaos while traveling in general coach. In this clip too, he can be heard saying that it is not right to sit with a bag on the seat and if someone has luggage then they should keep it near or above the feet to make space for others.
Many such videos will be found on his social media page, in which he is seen giving information about railway rules and making proper arrangements for sitting in the general coach. At some places he appeals to the people not to crowd near the gate, at other places he asks women, children and elderly people to sit on priority. Many times he talks in a harsh manner, but his objective is clearly visible, to make the crowded journey a little humane and organized.
