The story of an Indian software engineer is becoming increasingly viral on social media these days. The reason is his extraordinary journey, in which despite failures in studies, poor health and repeated failures, he got a great tech job at the age of just 25. This story has become an inspiration for thousands of youth, who feel confused about their future.
That engineer shared his ordeal on Reddit under the name My story: From a pure failure in college to here at 25. In the post, he opened up about how he was very quiet and introverted during his school days and how his problems started increasing after class 10. He got only 72 percent marks in class 12 and his performance in engineering entrance exams was also very weak. This was the period when for the first time he felt that maybe he was falling behind others.
After these results, he took admission in B.Sc. Maths, but that college was far below his expectations. He himself called it the worst college. The situation became so bad that he failed in all the subjects in the very first semester. After this, when the Covid pandemic came, his life became even more disrupted. The fear of being locked in the house for a long time and having an uncertain future pushed him towards depression. The continuity of studies also continued to break. He took his final university exams in 2022, but failed in that too. Gave the exam again the next year, but the result remained the same. Apart from this, he prepared for the MCA entrance exam of NIT for a whole year, but there too he was disappointed. All these failures gave a deep blow to his confidence.
During this time his health also started deteriorating. He was diagnosed with serious diseases like hydronephrosis and chronic kidney disease, which were aggravated by pre-existing problems. Treatment, medicines and mental stress made his life more difficult. Many times he felt that perhaps everything was over. Still he did not decide to accept defeat. After finishing college, he started learning coding on his own. He entered the world of programming through online courses, YouTube and practice. His dream was to become a software engineer, even though he did not have a degree from a major college.
In 2023, his hard work paid off and he got a part-time job. After some time, he also got a full time role, in which he started getting a package of six lakh rupees annually. This was a big achievement for him, because for the first time he felt that his hard work was bearing fruit. But this happiness did not last long. After just five months the company fired him. This was again a big shock for him.
He later wrote that he was not happy with the situation, but he did not let himself break. He started preparing again and started giving new interviews. He received many rejections, many times his hopes were raised and also broken, but he continued his efforts. His patience and hard work finally paid off in October 2025. He received job offers from two mid-level startups. He joined one of those companies, where he got a base salary package of Rs 21 lakh per annum along with ESOPs. This was the same person who, a few years ago, considered himself a failed student.
Recently he turned 25 and wrote that he never expected that he would reach such a better condition. In his words, the journey is not over yet, but now he feels happier and more confident than ever. His post left a deep impression on the internet. Thousands of people praised his honesty and determination. Many users said that her story is proof that a degree or a renowned college alone does not guarantee success. The real strength lies in keeping learning and believing in yourself.
