Three elderly people have been missing from Vasant Kunj area of Delhi for about a month. The High Court has adopted a strict stance on this matter. Court
Police have been instructed to take immediate effective action and trace them. The division bench of Justices Vivek Chaudhary and Manoj Jain, while hearing the petition of Oindrila Dasgupta, directed the police to find the three elderly people without any delay.
According to the information, the family members allege that despite continuous complaints, no concrete action was taken by the police, due to which they had to approach the court. Ondrila Dasgupta has filed this petition in the High Court. The daughter of the elderly said in the petition that her parents have been kidnapped and the police is not showing seriousness in this whole matter.
It was told in the petition that Ondrila's parents Mihir Kumar Dasgupta and Anindita Dasgupta, as well as her uncle Sameer Dasgupta had suddenly gone missing from their house in Pocket-A of Vasant Kunj along with their pet dog on December 13 at around 2.30 pm. Since then no trace of him was found. The family members searched many places but could not find any trace of the elders.
Ondrila told the court that when she returned to Shav Kol home, despite calling several times, no one picked up the phone. He told that things were scattered inside the house. The whole house was in disarray which made him suspect theft. After this he immediately lodged a complaint at Kishangarh Police Station. It has also been alleged in the petition that her ex-husband had called and threatened her and claimed that he had got the elderly kidnapped. After this threat, additional complaints were also given on 14 and 15 December, in which the threats received through WhatsApp and the names of some other family members were revealed.
Ondrila says that between 16 and 18 December, she visited the police station several times, but despite this the police did not take any strict or decisive action. He said that when the FIR was not registered even after giving three written complaints, he filed a petition in the High Court under Article 226 of the Constitution and the Indian Civil Defense Code. Along with this, an application was also given to register an FIR before the Chief Judicial Magistrate in Patiala House Court.
Considering the seriousness of the matter, the High Court had summoned the status report from Delhi Police on January 6. Now the next hearing of this case has been fixed on January 13, 2026. The court has raised questions on the inaction of the police and asked to take quick and concrete steps in the matter.
