Voting will be held for 29 municipal corporations including Mumbai on Thursday in Maharashtra. The Election Commission has decided to use Printing Auxiliary Display Unit (PADU) with EVMs during voting. This decision of the Election Commission has created controversy. Opposition parties are raising questions about the decision of the Election Commission.
MNC chief Raj Thackeray mumbai municipal corporation elections Criticized the use of PADU. Thackeray alleged that no party was informed about this new machine. He expressed doubt on this, but Municipal Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani immediately held a press conference and gave information about this PADU machine.
According to the Election Commission, this new PADU machine will be connected to EVM. The full name of PADU is Deploy Printing Auxiliary Display Unit. The PADU machine is an additional small device, which will be attached to the EVM. Orders have been issued to connect the control unit and ballot unit to this system. Mumbai Municipal Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani said that if the display of the control unit suddenly stops, then the PADU machine will come in handy.
'PADU' machines will be used to display information on a large screen during the voting process. But the most important thing is that the 'PADU' machine will not issue a paper receipt like VVPAT. Gagrani told that 'PADU' is also a control unit. This machine is primarily an assistive display device, which can be used to make the voting process easier and more visible.
He said it is a backup machine. This machine has been manufactured by BHEL. The company has sent 140 'PADU' units for the Mumbai Municipal Corporation elections. This machine will remain at the polling station. Like EVM, this machine will also be present there.
They said thatThere will not be much need for this machine. But 'PADU' machines have been made available as a backup option. Gagrani said that it will be used first when an emergency situation arises. For this, 140 'PADU' units have been ordered. There is a possibility of their use.
In view of the municipal elections in Maharashtra, MNS chief Raj Thackeray has strongly criticized a new decision of the Election Commission. He has made serious allegations against the government and the Commission regarding the rule that allows candidates to do door-to-door campaigning till the polling day even after the election campaign period is over.
Raj Thackeray asked why this rule is there for this election? Why was this issue not raised in the Assembly or Lok Sabha? What was the need to bring back the Old Testament? EVMs are also old. Since EVMs are old, new machines are being installed. What are these new machines? People don't know. We don't know either. People should see what kind of politics is going on.
He asked what kind of machine is this? What does it look like? What happens from this? There is an EVM machine in which political people are called to the booth and asked to press the button. They show whether it is right or not. Now a new machine has arrived. They did not want to show it to political parties. There is so much chaos. What kind of election is this? What the hell is going on?
