BMC Mumbai Election Result 2026 and Votes Counting Live Updates in Hindi: The counting process of votes cast on 15 January 2026 under the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation General Election 2025-26 will take place on Friday, 16 January 2026 from 10 am. For this, 23 counting rooms have been made at different places. The detailed plan prepared for this counting process has been approved by Municipal Commissioner and District Election Officer Bhushan Gagrani. The counting process will be completed in strict accordance with the Model Code of Conduct as per the guidelines of the Honorable Election Commission of India. Necessary precautions have been taken regarding security arrangements, traffic planning and law and order during counting.

As per Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation General Election 2025-26, a total of 23 Election Decision Officers have been appointed for a total of 227 election wards within the municipal area. As per the schedule announced by the State Election Commission, Maharashtra, the counting process will begin at 10 am on Friday, January 16, 2026. For the counting process, a strong room and counting places have been fixed under the office of every Election Decision Officer. All these places have received necessary approvals from the Public Works Department (PWD), Police Department.

Counting system reviewed

The counting system was reviewed by Municipal Commissioner and District Election Officer Bhushan Gagrani. Additional Municipal Commissioner (City) Dr. (Mrs.) Ashwini Joshi, Special Duty Officer (Election) Vijay Balamwar, Joint Commissioner (Tax Assessment and Collection) Vishwas Shankarwar, Additional District Collector (Konkan Division) Farogh Mukadam, Assistant Commissioner (Tax Assessment and Collection) Gajanan Bellale, Deputy District Collector Mahadev Kirwale and 23 Returning Officers (RO) were present.

Municipal Commissioner Gagrani said that the counting process will be done strictly following all the guidelines of the Honorable Election Commission of India. All necessary details have been completed to ensure a transparent, smooth and timely counting process. The details of design and planning of counting centres, table layout, appointment of officers and staff, security arrangements, CCTV system, as well as fire and medical facilities have been finalized after detailed review. Coordination has been done with the police department to ensure that there is no law and order issue during counting. Necessary security arrangements have been deployed.

What will be done for transparency?

Gagrani also said that 770 Class IV employees along with 779 supervisors and 770 assistants have been appointed for counting. Pre-training has been given to counting officers, supervisors and assistants. Separate rooms have been made in the counting center area for traffic control, parking arrangement and media. Computer system will be used to maintain accuracy and transparency while announcing the results.

Authorized representatives, candidates and media representatives will have to be present on time for the counting process. Only those eligible people will be able to go to the counting venue to whom the Election Department has issued identity cards for the counting process. It is important to follow the instructions given by the Honorable State Election Commission, Maharashtra. Municipal Commissioner Gagrani has directed all concerned departments to work in coordination so that the counting process is conducted in a peaceful and credible manner and people's faith in democracy is strengthened.

At the same time, before the counting of votes of BJP workers in Pimpri Chinchwad, the workers of self-confidence ward number 31 had already put up the victory banners of their leader. The victory banner of BJP candidate Navnath Jagtap from Ward 31 was put up. It was written on it that he would become a hat-trick corporator.

Where what percentage of voting took place?

In the municipal elections held on January 15, 2026 in Maharashtra, an average of 52 to 61 percent voting was recorded in different cities. Many big cities have seen a decline in voting percentage compared to previous elections, which has increased the concern of political parties.
