There has been a discussion about Starlink for a long time that the company is going to start service in India soon but now Elon Musk has another big challenge in front of him. Everyone is waiting for the launch of Starlink service, the question in everyone's mind is that after all. elon musk When will you start the service? To move ahead in this matter, the company will have to take new approval for technologies like D2D connectivity from the space regulator IN-SPACe. The thing to note here is that currently the company has got permission for only basic broadband from space service in India, which means that the matter for D2D license is stuck and the rollout of the service is getting delayed.
Government officials say that Starlink had sought approval for Gen-1 and Gen-2 satellite constellations to start service in India, but IN-SPACe has so far received only Gen-1 approval from the company. Approval for the company's Gen-2 Constellation was rejected because some frequency bands are not yet permitted in India. An official says that Gen-2 includes different spectrum and features and some of these are not currently in accordance with Indian rules. This is the reason why approval has not been given for Gen-2 Constellation.
According to the report of Economic Times, IN-SPACe Chairman Pawan Kumar Goenka had said that Starlink has not received Gen-2 clearance. When the company applied 3 to 4 years ago, D2D technology was not so developed but now Gen-2 has many advanced features including D2D. In such a situation, the company can apply for it again.
