With this, Carlos Alcaraz made it to the final of the Australian Open for the first time.
At the beginning of the match, Carlos Alcaraz won the first two sets easily. But in the third set, with the score at 4-4, Alcaraz started having cramps. He was unable to serve and could hardly walk. Due to which medical timeout was taken, due to which Zverev looked very angry. He expressed his displeasure to the tournament official. However, after some time the match progressed and Alexander Zverev made a comeback.
Alexander Zverev capitalized on the opportunity and took the match to the fifth set by winning the third-fourth set tie-break. Zverev took a break early in the fifth set and served the match at 5-4. But Alcaraz made an amazing comeback. He got the break back, made the score 5-5 and then broke Zverev's serve at 6-5 to win the match 7-5. Zverev missed his backhand on the last point. With this, 22 year old Alcaraz reached the Australian Open final for the first time.
If Carlos Alcaraz wins the final, he will become the youngest male player to complete a career Grand Slam. In the final, he will face either Novak Djokovic, who is trying to win his 25th Grand Slam title, or World No. 2 Jannik Sinner, between whom the second semi-final match is to be played.
