Unexpected political equations have emerged in the mayor elections of Amravati Municipal Corporation. AIMIM corporator Meera Kamble, considered a staunch opponent of BJP, voted in favor of BJP candidate Srichand Tejwani at the last moment. Due to this support, BJP's Srichand Tejwani was elected mayor of Amravati.

After this incident, AIMIM has taken strict action and expelled Meira Kamble from the party. AIMIM says that this decision was against the ideology and discipline of the party. Along with the mayor elections, elections were also held for the post of Deputy Mayor, in which Sachin Bhende of Yuva Swabhiman Party was elected as Deputy Mayor. Mahayuti's power has now been established in Amravati Municipal Corporation.

This grand alliance includes BJP, Shiv Sena (Shinde faction), Nationalist Congress Party (Ajit Pawar faction) and Yuva Swabhiman Party. Under the decided power-sharing formula, Srichand Tejwani will remain mayor for the first 1.5 years, while after this, Ashish Atkare of BJP will hold the post of mayor for the next 1.5 years. Sachin Bhende of Yuva Swabhiman Party (YSP) has been elected Deputy Mayor.

Discord within BJP after the results

After the election results, there is discord within the BJP also. About 22 BJP candidates (20 of whom lost) have written a letter to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis demanding the expulsion of Navneet Rana from the party. He is accused of campaigning against the official candidates of the party during the elections. This development is considered very important in the local politics of Maharashtra because it is rare for parties with opposite ideologies like BJP and AIMIM to come together.
