Congress MP Rahul Gandhi is continuously attacking the government on the issues of workers and farmers. Meanwhile, today he met the leaders of farmer unions in the Parliament House. During this, the leaders expressed their opposition to the US-India trade deal. He also expressed his deep concern about the livelihood of farmers growing maize, soybean, cotton, fruits and dry fruits.
Rahul Gandhi said that the trade deal has opened the way for agricultural imports. Soon many other crops will also be imported. Farmer leaders and Rahul Gandhi discussed the need for a large-scale national movement to oppose the deal and protect the livelihoods of farmers and farm workers. Sukhpal S Khaira, Ranjit Sandhu and Ashok Balhara were also present in this discussion.

Before this meeting with the farmer leaders, Rahul Gandhi had clearly said that whether FIR is filed, case is filed or privilege motion is brought, I will fight for the farmers. Any trade deal that takes away the livelihood of the farmers or weakens the food security of the country is anti-farmer. Anti-farmer will not allow the Modi government to compromise with the interests of the farmers.
